ATI Catalyst 5.6
ATI has just released a new set of WHQL certified drivers on their website which now natively support mobile graphics chipsets. Users have the option of downloading these mobility drivers instead of using outdated and sometimes hard to find OEM offerings.
"With the launch of Catalyst 5.6 we take software innovation to the next level, broadening our footprint to support notebook PCs and defining a new standard for video control and usability," said Ben Bar-Haim, Vice President, Software, ATI Technologies. "The new features in Catalyst 5.6 combined with an ongoing monthly commitment to deliver high-performance WHQL-certified drivers present a unique software proposition that is unmatched in the graphics industry."
In addition to supporting ATI mobility products, Catalyst 5.6 drivers promise to increase performance in most new games and benchmarks. No word on any increase in Half-Life 2 based game performance which has suffered in recent releases.
